How many levels should my rubric have?→

Three to five. The default four levels (scored 4-3-2-1) balances nuance against reliability. With six or more levels, graders have trouble distinguishing adjacent descriptions consistently, which reintroduces the subjectivity a rubric is supposed to remove. Use three levels for simple tasks like homework checks.

How is the total score calculated?→

The total possible equals the highest level's point value multiplied by the number of criteria. Three criteria with a top level worth 4 points gives a 12-point rubric. To weight one criterion more heavily, give it its own higher-point column set or double it into two related criteria rows.

Can I export the rubric to Word or Google Docs?→

Use copy-as-markdown and paste into any markdown-aware editor, or paste into Google Docs with 'Paste as markdown' enabled. For Word, printing to PDF via the print button preserves the exact table layout. The markdown table includes the title, all levels with points, and every cell description.
